Dahlings, I'm back from Vegas baby! I was not expecting to like it at all but there was a lot to like and of course a lot not to like. I saw a couple shows, did some serious shopping, enjoyed the nightlife and exercised my professional eating skills. But let's talk fashion. If you've been to Vegas, you know the style of choice for the ladies is to bare it all in skimpy low cut up to there dresses that leave very little to the imagination. I was impressed by the number of curvy girls who were struttin down the strip and in the casinos next to the size 0 girls. Go ahead ladies. But honestly there were moments when I thought, Oh no you didn't! It seems like everyone releases their inner tramp when they come to Vegas. Even I was tempted to lower my neckline a little bit and raise my hemline. But there's no need for everyone to see your ass cheeks hanging out from your dress. There just isn't.
Towering heels were also pervasive. Mostly everyone looked ridiculous because their 4-5 inch heels where getting the best of them. Listen I love heels but you have to be smart. During the day I wore flats or my 1 inch wedge gold gladiators and at night I rocked my platforms--only when I was certain we wouldn't be walking for long distances. And honestly heels are not for everybody; I can always spot a newbie and it's not a sexy look. Of course with the crazy desert heat swimsuits are in order. I spent most of my five day trip to Vegas poolside. And Oh boy did I see some things. It's okay to wear a one piece ladies. In fact most should. I guess everyone wants to be that girl in the skimpy two piece but not all of us have it like that. So we're not all perfect( and apparently no body is because even the size zero chicks had some cellulite) but we can certainly learn to enhance the best parts of our body. And I guess that's what really stood out to me in Vegas; most people were dressing the way they thought they should be dressing, blindly following trends and not considering what looks best on their body. But I guess that's what's great about Vegas; it's a city where you can be anyone you imagine, good or bad. Viva Las Vegas, I guess.
But now that I've actually been to the big V, here are the top 7 things that I'm glad I packed to bring with me.
1. Three bathing suits ( two one pieces and a bikini). I lounged by the pool on the daily.
2. Flat sandals. Boy was I happy to have my flats for that never ending stroll on the strip and shopping at the outlets.
3. A sexy little dress. And sexy does not mean trashy but whatever you feel beautiful in for a special night out. But mine was definitely sexy and came in handy for dinner and night out at TAO.
4.A fashionable beach bag. A nice big expandable one to tote my sunbathing gear: sunscreen, cover-up, magazines, and my music.
5. Body shimmer. Nothing sets off a nice tan like some body sheen. I used this at night on my legs, arms, and shoulders for a soft glow. I like Benefits Bathina.
6. My maxi dress. For a nice romantic casual dinner.
7. Sexy shoes that I could walk in for a night out on the town.
Vegas is a great weekend or extended weekend getaway providing a rare opportunity to release your inhibitions. But be careful; in this digital age whatever happens in Vegas, may not stay in Vegas. So dress appropriately or your fashion mishap may show up in unexpected places.
